A stronger voice for Romania’s real estate community: Geo Margescu and Doron Klein take the lead of AREI

New leadership of the Association of Real Estate Investors in Romania sets a course of a stronger public-private dialogue, accessible housing and more predictable urban development

Bucharest. November 3 rd 2026. The Association of Real Estate Investors in Romania (AREI)has elected its new leadership structure, opening a new chapter for the association and for the industry it represents. Geo Margescu, Co-Founder & CEO of Forte Partners, has been elected as the new AREI President, and Doron Klein, Group Deputy CEO AFI & CEO AFI Romania, has been elected as Vice-President of the association.

AREI brings together some of the most significant real estate investors in Romania, across the full spectrum of the industry: residential, office, retail and logistics. Its members are developing large-scale investment projects worth billions of euros, with a lasting impact on communities in all major Romanian cities, from Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iasi, Constanta, Brasov and Timisoara to Craiova and many more.

Over the past years, AREI has built a solid partnership with public authorities, taking an active part in the main platforms for dialogue with the business environment and contributing expertise to public policy initiatives that matter for the sector.

Building on this foundation, the new AREI leadership brings a clear agenda: to contribute constructively and with data to the public conversation on the frameworks that shape how Romanian cities grow. Its priorities include tools that widen access to real estate investment and the capital market, solutions that make quality housing more accessible, and urban planning and permitting procedures that are clearer, faster and more predictable for everyone involved.

Over the next four years, I intend to strengthen the community of professionals active in real estate development in Romania by retaining and growing our membership, to continue a structured dialogue with authorities and civil society on matters of common interest and, most importantly to me, to make sure that the voice of every member is heard and represented. I firmly believe that a strong voice and shared goals within our community have a direct impact on how the built environment is reflected in quality of life. It is up to us to be a driver of growth for Romania in this respect.” said Geo Margescu, President of AREI.
