On June 2nd, 2020, AREI members met with the Prime-Minister, Mr. Ludovic Orban to discuss about the effects of the measures implemented to support the economy affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, and the Government plans on reopening the activities in the retail sector while maintaining the public safety and sanitary conditions. Mr. Virgil Popescu, Minister of Economy, Energy and the Business Environment has also joined the meeting. Prime-Minister Orban stated that the Government together with a team of experts are currently assessing the timetable for the gradual reopening of the activities in large shopping centers by mid-June.

In this respect, the AREI members reassured the Prime-Minister Orban and the present members of the cabinet that the shopping centers are ready to reopened in compliance with all necessary measures for public health and safety protection. Also, it was emphasized that a set of recommendations on sanitary measures for the reopening of shopping centers has been prepared by the members of the association, which will be further discussed and assessed together with the competent authorities.
